Challenge meeting 4
Challenge meeting 4 brought about some great results from our team. In the 100m open men Warren Zammit impressed with a personal best of 11.35 placing 3rd, also placing the same in the 200m. Sarah Busuttil placed 2nd in both 100m and 200m. In the 200m U16 boys we had an excellent race by our boys Kurt Zahra and Beppe Grillo, cominge 1st and 2nd respectively with Kurt Zahra just missing off the category best time by 0.05s. They both registered personal bests. In the 200m U16 girls our girls also showed dominance on the track where Sarah Chouhal, Kimahri Charles and Kayleigh Chetcuti came 2nd , 3rd and 4th respectively all registering a personal best in an exciting race. Kayleigh Chetcuti also performed amazingly in the long jump where she placed 2nd with a personal best.
In the 400m, Krestien Micallef continued to show consistency by placing 3rd whilst beating more experienced athletes. In the U16 girls 800m, our champion Josepha Micallef dominated the event whilst our senior Matthew Rota showed progress in the 800m registering a season’s best. In the women’s 1500m, Rachel Galea placed 2nd with a personal best.
Unfortunately half the throwing events where cancelled due to repairs on the throwing cage. Nevertheless, we still had a great success from the U16 girls shot put, with Kimahri Charles winning the event in a throw of 11.49m just a centimetre off the category all time best. In the same event, Mariah Zahra placed 3rd. In the U16 boys shot put, Kyle Caruana continued to dominate the event going once again over 12m.
Our little stars Shylaine mifsud, Kelsey Chetcuti, Nilayza Atrard, Jake Schriha and Damian Magro shined in their events and registered personal bests.
