Road to nationals

With less than 2 weeks to go for the National Championships our athletes are showing a consistent build up in good performances. Surely the top performance came from Sarah Chouhal who broke once again after a week the U18 U20 National Record lowering previous mark by 1.03s clocking 1.05.87 followed by Josepha Micallef also clocking a PB. Sarah doubled up 5 minutes later in the U18 hammer throw with a SB of 49.02m. In the 400m Luca Farrugia confirmed his dominance clocking a very good time of 50.27s, in the same event Krestien Micallef was 2nd U20 with a time of 52.36s. In the sprint events Warren Zammit continued showing improvement by clocking a SB in the 100m of 11.06s and a PB in the 200m of 22.32s. Other promising results are the following: Matthew Micallef clocked 12.43s in the 100 (PB), Rachel Galea clocked 2.38.19 (PB) and Daniel Borg Ferrando placing 1st U18.In the throwing events Luca Martini was just cms shy from the open National record in the hammer throw, Kyle Caruana topped the U18 throwing events winning the Discus, Shot and Javelin. Luke Farrugia produced also consisting throwing after breaking the National record a few weeks ago. In the womens throws we also had Antonella Chouhal winning the open event and Mariah Zahra in the Discus throw.
